LEO Learning and NEMA App Enters Major Public App Stores

LEO Learning and the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) are delighted to announce the launch of their NEMA app, ‘EMAC Essentials’, on the Apple and Android app stores.

The app, which was built using the award-winning gomo authoring tool by leading learning technologies firm and gomo reseller LEO Learning, aims to prepare and inform personnel before or during a deployment through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) – a nationally adopted mutual aid agreement that facilitates the sharing of personnel and equipment in times of disaster.

The app guides emergency personnel through the EMAC process while testing their knowledge in order to help them prepare for, respond to, and seek reimbursement for an EMAC deployment. By publishing the app through public app stores, geographically dispersed personnel can download the app to personal devices prior to or during deployment, giving users access to support while working in emergency situations.

“The lack of awareness on the EMAC process, expected actions while on an EMAC deployment, and expense reimbursement has consistently been the biggest issue we encounter. EMAC is efficient, effective, and scalable; but, responders need to be educated on how the system works and who to contact should they encounter an issue. The EMAC Essentials app provides all of this in a succinct but comprehensive resource. Working with LEO Learning was one of the highlights of the project. Their professionalism and commitment to our project was exceptional,” said Angela Copple, EMAC Program Director, NEMA.

The EMAC Essentials app follows a long line of work that LEO Learning has completed with NEMA, including a central learning platform which stores all of the organisation’s e-learning content.

Ruth Haddon, COO of LEO Learning North America, said: “LEO Learning is proud to be supporting NEMA with innovative learning technologies as they continue to deliver enhanced public safety. This app is the result of a true partnership which connects NEMA and their personnel with the EMAC process. We’re really proud of what we have achieved together – the app is visually appealing, engaging and extremely helpful to first responders. It’s fantastic to know that this will really make a difference to the people who help us in emergencies.”
