Meet the Team: Peter Carpenter

As part of our new ‘Meet the team’ series, we’re chatting to key members of the LEO family each month, so you can get to know them better. Today we’re speaking to Account Manager, Pete Carpenter.

What does your role as Account Manager entail?

My role entails working with clients to deliver custom compliance training programs. This is achieved by applying the appropriate project management methodology for individual projects and programs, using the necessary project standards to drive client satisfaction and successful project delivery. Day to day, I liaise with a great team of Developers, Graphic Designers/Learning Consultants and third-party vendors to coordinate often large and challenging programs.

Which part of working at LEO Learning do you love most?

I have to say the thing I love most at LEO is the people. Working with talented, knowledgeable and hardworking people often makes my job a lot easier. Being able to reach out to team members, with unplanned, unscheduled, and often short notice requests and more often than not having that request met, has been invaluable on so many occasions. No matter how much planning, there is always something that arises which was not planned for. Having such a willing team behind me just allows me to keep building those crucial client relationships.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

A very proud work achievement is in relation to a program that has been delivered quite recently. Over the last two years, I have been working with a client delivering a number of eLearning courses on a variety of topics. This year we had the opportunity to build a course outside of the norm in terms of their usual design approach, something a little more innovative. Although the project experienced challenges, somewhat expected I’d say when taking a new direction, we were able to deliver an excellent product in the required timeframe. Not only was this a huge effort on all sides, it was testament that we as a company are committed to supporting clients on their eLearning journey, whether the path is straightforward or something exciting and innovative.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve overcome?

The biggest challenge I would say relates to joining the company from another eLearning provider, where I had worked for many years. Whilst the businesses were very similar, there were many elements to my role that were very different. There was a lot to learn and a lot to unlearn. The biggest lesson for me: just because it says eLearning on the tin, doesn’t mean it’s all the same. Making the job switch after such a long time was a big challenge but well worth it.

What are the three things you can’t work without?

  • The support of all my colleagues – cheesy but true!
  • Having a smile on my face and putting smiles on other peoples’
  • And my calendar

What subject could you give a 30-minute presentation about with no advance preparation?

Photography or marriage: two things I have much experience in.
